Chapter 19 – Small Aunt’s Family
Wang Xuedong’s family had dinner at their house. Wang Xuechun cooked, making an exceptionally sumptuous meal that filled the entire dining table.
Actually, Wang Xuedong’s main purpose for coming here was to take a look at Li Zhenguan and strategize for the meeting of in-laws the day after tomorrow. Additionally, it was to take her son to visit Jiangcheng University and motivate him.
At the dinner table, it was mainly Wang Rong’s father and Wang father who were talking. The two were brothers-in-law and had a close relationship. Zhang Ke didn’t have many brothers, and most of them were out of the province. In comparison, Wang Rong’s father Zhang Linong often kept in touch with Wang father. Occasionally, when some specialties were sent from home, they would also share some with Zhang Linong’s side.
This time, Wang Zhao was getting married, and the meeting of both families’ parents was considered a big event. No wonder Small Aunt’s family also came. Compared to the Li family, their Wang Zhao’s family wasn’t exactly prosperous in terms of population. During New Year’s, they couldn’t even fill a table. Wang Xuedong’s visit this time was to show support.
Wang Xuechun brought out the wine that had been brewed at home for a long time. This jar of wine had always been kept in the living room, soaked for several years. Usually, only she would have a small glass while eating alone. Now that her sister had come, the two couldn’t help but have a few drinks.
Wang Zhao didn’t like alcohol and sat quietly eating her meal.
While she was having dinner, Wang mother and Wang Xuedong were still drinking, their faces slightly flushed, but their minds were still clear. They probably weren’t drunk. The two sisters hadn’t seen each other for a long time, so naturally, they had a lot to talk about.
Wang Zhao glanced at the time. It was already six o’clock. Soon it would be dark.
She asked, “Dad, where will Small Aunt and her family stay overnight? At home or should we book a hotel?”
“Go out and book a room at a nearby hotel. There’s only one guest room left at home. Wang Rong will stay here. Your Small Aunt and Small Uncle will stay out. They can have lunch and dinner at our place,” Zhang Ke considered and said.
The nearby hotels weren’t cheap, costing two to three hundred per night. Three days would cost one to two thousand. Booking just one room could save several hundred yuan.
When Wang Rong was younger, he could sleep with Wang Zhao, but now that the children had grown up, it wasn’t convenient anymore.
Wang Zhao nodded at her father’s instructions and took out her phone to directly book a large bed room on the app. The hotel was very close, only about one or two kilometers away, about a twenty-minute walk.
The four of them left the table first, but Zhang Ke and Zhang Linong were still busy in the kitchen. Wang Zhao and Wang Rong sat in the living room to chat.
“You’re in your third year of high school now?” Wang Zhao casually asked the boy sitting next to her, intending to make small talk. Wang Rong looked very restrained, and this restraint made Wang Zhao feel more at ease when facing this cousin she was meeting for the first time.
Wang Rong nodded, with a shy smile on his face: “It’s the first semester of the third year now.”
“You must be very nervous then,” Wang Zhao said, “Which major at Jiangcheng University do you want to apply for?”
Regarding her original self’s university, Wang Zhao had definitely researched it carefully. Not only had she looked up information about the university online, but she had also personally visited the campus, just in case she needed to go to her alma mater one day or someone asked about it.
The most famous part of Jiangcheng University was its Law School, a nationally renowned program that had produced many famous figures. There was a saying that half of the people in the Central Procuratorate and Court were from Jiangcheng University’s Law School, and the other half were lawyers defending in the procuratorate and court.
“I want to apply for law at Jiangcheng University,” Wang Rong said somewhat shyly. Wang Zhao was a graduate of Jiangcheng University.
“Then you’ll need to work hard.”
In recent years, the admission scores for Jiangcheng University’s Law School had been getting higher and higher, comparable to a battle among immortals. When Wang Zhao saw those scores getting higher year by year, she realized how lucky she had been to get into Jiangcheng University’s Law School back then.
Wang Rong nodded seriously. With his current grades, getting into Jiangcheng University wouldn’t be a problem, but getting into the specific major he wanted would be a bit challenging. However, there was still half a year left, so with some effort, it wasn’t impossible.
After discussing academics, it was time to chat about other casual topics. By this time, Zhang Ke had finished cleaning up the kitchen. Ignoring the two women still drinking and chatting at the dining table, he brought a plate of cut fruit and sat down in the living room with Zhang Linong.
The TV in front was playing a program. Wang Zhao occasionally glanced at it, scrolling through her phone from time to time, sending messages to Li Zhenguan. Earlier at the dinner table, Li Zhenguan had sent several text messages asking what she had for dinner.
A bit clingy.
Wang Zhao thought absent-mindedly, and then couldn’t help but think of Zhu Xishan.
Zhu Xishan was an interesting person, a typical upright person, looking proper and acting properly. Such people were always a bit tiring.
At this moment, Zhang Linong casually asked Zhang Ke how Wang Zhao and Li Zhenguan had met.
Wang Zhao’s heart skipped a beat, and she slightly turned her head to look at her father sitting beside her. The man smiled and said, “These two kids meeting was a coincidence. I have a high school classmate who said his relative had a son about the same age as our Wang Zhao, so he introduced them to get to know each other, just to make friends. Zhenguan is that child’s cousin, and through coming and going, they got to know each other. Who would have thought these two kids would end up together.”
“That really is a coincidence,” Zhang Linong only now learned about this backstory. “Do you have any photos of that child? Let us see.”
Upon hearing this, Wang Rong, who had been watching TV, also looked up, his eyes fixed on Wang Zhao and Zhang Ke, clearly curious as well.
Wang Zhao was about to shake her head. To be honest, she really didn’t have any photos of Li Zhenguan on her phone. They had only gone out a few times, and she didn’t have a habit of taking photos. Li Zhenguan didn’t either, so there wasn’t a single photo on her phone.
Thinking carefully, it was actually a bit strange. Two people about to get married and not a single photo of each other on their phones.
However, before she could shake her head, Zhang Ke smiled and said, “No photos, but there’s a video. Zhenguan often sends me some daily short videos. The day they went to the hospital for the NT scan, they filmed a short clip that happened to show his face.”

If you’re like me…
Too tired of reading stories where the female lead is often foolish, weak, feeble both physically and mentally, usually in a subservient and oppressed role in society such as a maid, secretary, concubine… or to put it bluntly, typically the one who has to serve and please the male lead, always needing protection and rescue from male leads, while the male lead is often described as talented, strikingly handsome, powerful,…
Then please continue reading.
Hi there, girls!
I’m Yuushi L.
Every day, movies and comics continuously reinforce the notion that women are weak, that they can only handle trivial matters in the background, that women are petty-minded and constantly jealous, mocking, and laughing at other women, while men are strong, wealthy, and solely focused on conquering the world, with countless mindless women ready to fall into their arms.
Believe me, once you read Female-dominant (FEDO) novels, your mindset will change significantly.
I am deeply inspired by strong, independent, and rational women who have the power to take control of their lives, and I am fascinated by the way society’s gender roles are reversed in this genre compared to real life.
So I have created this web with the noble purpose of promoting the “Female-dominant (FEDO)” genre of novels.
In my country, there was a rare renowned female poet in ancient times who wrote the following about the fate of women in that era:
“Damn this life of sharing a husband,
One wrapped in warmth, the other left cold.
I’d rather have stayed single from the start,
Than to endure a life so torn apart.”
Perhaps my penchant for reading female-dominant stories is partly a way of rebelling against the realities of life.
On my site, there will be stories that are not only female-dominant novels, as long as they align with my taste, featuring strong female protagonists and fresh, captivating storylines. Usually, they will be modern or fantasy novels.
I rarely read ancient novels that aren’t female-dominant because they often contain details that easily trigger me. These include the portrayal of men having multiple wives and concubines, which was considered utterly normal in ancient society, and the frequent disdain towards women.
I cannot change the world, as the societal structure that discriminates against women and elevates men has existed for thousands of years. Changing it to truly give women an equal role in society is not something that can happen overnight. If you want gender equality now, it’s laughable. It will never happen when over 90% of national and business leaders are men.
But I can start by changing the mindset of women, sisters, and young girls. Don’t just read dull slogans urging women to be strong and independent; it’s hard to imagine. Read Female-dominant (FEDO) novels to see clearly what true female empowerment looks like.
I believe there will be more and more independent and strong women who prioritize their careers and personal stability over seeking a man to rely on.
In the future, there will be more successful female entrepreneurs, politicians, and thought leaders.
As for me, I will start by making this website grow stronger day by day.
I especially like the concept of “the male lead falls in love first, the female lead is the cold-hearted and rational one, and the male lead suffers because the female lead doesn’t reciprocate his feelings.”
Therefore, you’ll see that most of the novels on my website will belong to this trope. Of course, there will be exceptions.
In the future, I also plan to write my own novels following this concept, where the female lead in my stories will never be the weaker party. I hope I can do it soon.
The novels I highly recommend will be listed under the category:
There will be exceptionally brilliant stories, but there will also be mediocre ones. As the Female-dominant (FEDO) genre has fewer authors and readers, the number of high-quality novels is limited.
Therefore, I want to promote this genre to reach a wider audience, which will encourage more talented authors to choose to write in this style, leading to the birth of more outstanding Female-dominant (FEDO) novels.
The Chinese versions of the novels I use for translation are all sourced from various websites on the internet. You know, I don’t have much budget to purchase so many novels.
Therefore, if your financial situation allows, please support the authors by purchasing the original works. You can find the original works using the Chinese titles of the novels.

WARNING:
In some novels, there are certain unhealthy ideologies and illegal actions held by the main characters (for example, treating human lives as worthless, or casually deciding to kill someone, forcing others to do things they don’t want to do, arbitrarily imprisoning others, plotting to harm others, using violence to retaliate against violence,…).
This may be because the authors are still young and inexperienced, unaware that what they’re writing goes beyond moral standards and can negatively influence young readers.
It’s important that readers under 18 years old need to recognize these are illegal actions, not permitted to be carried out in real life, always keep a clear head while reading, treat these works only as entertainment, and don’t let yourself be influenced by those plot points.
