Chapter 66: The Young Miss’s Temper
People can break long-standing habits. Things once loved can become uncomfortable when touched again after being abandoned.
After smoking a cigarette, Wang Zhao decisively extinguished it, shaking her head. She opened the car door and waited for the smoke smell to dissipate before going upstairs.
Actually, there wasn’t much to worry about. Most people in this world trouble themselves unnecessarily.
However, at present, Wang Zhao’s concerns did have some real value. While she was having breakfast, Zhang Ke and Wang Xuechun also arrived. The two had already gone upstairs to meet with Yang Jin and the others, followed by Li Zhenwei.
In the past few days, she had met with Li Zhenwei once and had several private exchanges, becoming much more familiar than before. However, neither of them particularly wanted this familiarity.
The whole family gathered in the hallway, which wasn’t suitable for talking. Even slightly raised voices would be reminded by the nearby medical staff to keep it down.
Zhang Ke was quietly apologizing to Yang Jin and the others. After all, a perfectly fine son had ended up in this state under their care. It was impossible for them not to be upset at all. Even Zhang Ke had to wonder if Wang Zhao had done something unsavory; otherwise, how could a perfectly fine child end up hospitalized?
During Wang Zhao’s absence, the two couples had already inquired with the chief surgeon. Upon hearing it was sleeping pills and wrist-cutting, they immediately felt dizzy.
As a result, Yang Jin’s expression towards Zhang Ke, her in-law, wasn’t very good. It was Li’s mother who mediated with a few words, preventing the situation from becoming more unpleasant.
As soon as Wang Zhao came up, she drew the attention of all four people.
“Mom, Dad, you’re here,” Wang Zhao went to greet them.
Zhang Ke hurriedly asked, “Wang Zhao, you didn’t explain clearly on the phone. What exactly happened? How did Zhenguan end up in the hospital? He was fine when he visited us yesterday, how did he end up like this after just a few hours?”
He also knew that these two had some conflict, but he thought it was just normal arguments between a young couple. Which couple doesn’t argue?
In all the years he had been married to Wang Xuechun, it was only in recent years that they hadn’t argued much. When they first got married, they would argue several times every six months, and even leaving home to return to the husband’s family was a common occurrence. How did it escalate to a matter of life and death this time?
If they weren’t in the hospital right now, Wang Xuechun and Zhang Ke would have disciplined Wang Zhao. It’s true that children who cause less trouble when young often bring more headaches when they grow up.
“Zhenguan and I had a bit of a conflict. I’ve been living outside for this period. Last night, Uncle Yang called me saying something happened to Zhenguan,” Wang Zhao said, wiping her face as if to clear her mind. After composing herself, she continued, “Then I went home and found that Zhenguan had taken a large number of sleeping pills… and there were wounds on his wrists… Uncle Yang called 120 last night and brought Zhenguan here.”
When she came out of the emergency room, the doctor had told Wang Zhao, fearing that the patient’s family might not know, that the wounds on the patient’s wrists showed signs of multiple tearing, and the wound trauma didn’t look like it was caused by a sharp instrument, but by multiple scratches.
During the surgery, her colleagues were saying that this patient was quite fierce. These scratches would hurt much more than a single knife cut. However, they receive quite a few depressed patients who attempt suicide by wrist-cutting or sleeping pills every year, so this wasn’t too unusual. Having seen it often, they had become accustomed to it.
The fact that Wang Zhao wasn’t living on Golden Avenue but staying outside was something Yang Jin and Zhang Ke were hearing for the first time. There had been no signs of this before.
Li Zhenguan also hadn’t told Yang Jin that he and Wang Zhao had been in conflict during this time, a conflict so severe that Wang Zhao had moved out. Zhang Ke was also hearing this for the first time. This conflict sounded serious; otherwise, given Wang Zhao’s personality, she wouldn’t have moved out.
As they were talking, Li Zhenwei also came over. She had just finished a phone call and had also asked the chief surgeon about Zhenguan’s basic condition.
“Dad, Mom, you don’t need to worry. I just asked the doctor, and they said Zhenguan is out of danger now. After another day of observation here, if there are no problems, he can be transferred to a regular ward.”
She didn’t acknowledge Wang Zhao. There wasn’t much to say at the moment. She supported Yang Jin, “Dad, why don’t you go back first? I’ll keep an eye on things here. Besides, the ICU doesn’t need anyone to watch over it. There’s no use for you and Mom to stay here.”
This made sense. The hospital doesn’t allow family members to stay in the ICU, and their presence might interfere with the doctors’ work.
Wang Zhao was also preparing to take Zhang Ke home first. She needed to go back to Golden Avenue later, as hospitalization required ID cards to handle some procedures. They had left in such a hurry yesterday that they hadn’t brought many things.
Yang Jin was sent home by Li Zhenwei, so Wang Zhao needed to take Zhang Ke. Wang Xuechun had taken a day off today, so Wang Zhao took Wang Xuechun back to school before taking Zhang Ke home. On the way, these two couldn’t help but ask what exactly was going on between her and Zhenguan.
Wang Zhao didn’t like to talk about her affairs with Li Zhenguan to others. Even though it was Zhang Ke and Wang Xuechun asking, she didn’t want to say much. Firstly, it was something she dared not speak of, and secondly, with Li Zhenguan lying in the hospital, it would seem like she was adding fuel to the fire by complaining.
So she didn’t say what exactly had happened between her and Li Zhenguan, only that there was a small problem that needed to be resolved.
After a long silence in the backseat, just as they were about to enter the neighborhood, Zhang Ke couldn’t help but quietly ask, “Wang Zhao, tell me honestly, are you and Zhenguan talking about divorce? Otherwise, why would that child think of doing such a thing, taking so many sleeping pills? That’s wanting to die. What problem could be so unsolvable that it would make a good child like Zhenguan cut his wrists and take pills?”
“Dad, I’ll handle things between Zhenguan and me. You don’t need to worry,” Wang Zhao said softly after a pause, meeting Zhang Ke’s eyes.
With these words, Zhang Ke understood Wang Zhao’s thoughts. She probably didn’t want a divorce right now, and for someone working in government offices, a divorce might be a blemish on their record. A thought suddenly flashed through Zhang Ke’s mind.

If you’re like me…
Too tired of reading stories where the female lead is often foolish, weak, feeble both physically and mentally, usually in a subservient and oppressed role in society such as a maid, secretary, concubine… or to put it bluntly, typically the one who has to serve and please the male lead, always needing protection and rescue from male leads, while the male lead is often described as talented, strikingly handsome, powerful,…
Then please continue reading.
Hi there, girls!
I’m Yuushi L.
Every day, movies and comics continuously reinforce the notion that women are weak, that they can only handle trivial matters in the background, that women are petty-minded and constantly jealous, mocking, and laughing at other women, while men are strong, wealthy, and solely focused on conquering the world, with countless mindless women ready to fall into their arms.
Believe me, once you read Female-dominant (FEDO) novels, your mindset will change significantly.
I am deeply inspired by strong, independent, and rational women who have the power to take control of their lives, and I am fascinated by the way society’s gender roles are reversed in this genre compared to real life.
So I have created this web with the noble purpose of promoting the “Female-dominant (FEDO)” genre of novels.
In my country, there was a rare renowned female poet in ancient times who wrote the following about the fate of women in that era:
“Damn this life of sharing a husband,
One wrapped in warmth, the other left cold.
I’d rather have stayed single from the start,
Than to endure a life so torn apart.”
Perhaps my penchant for reading female-dominant stories is partly a way of rebelling against the realities of life.
On my site, there will be stories that are not only female-dominant novels, as long as they align with my taste, featuring strong female protagonists and fresh, captivating storylines. Usually, they will be modern or fantasy novels.
I rarely read ancient novels that aren’t female-dominant because they often contain details that easily trigger me. These include the portrayal of men having multiple wives and concubines, which was considered utterly normal in ancient society, and the frequent disdain towards women.
I cannot change the world, as the societal structure that discriminates against women and elevates men has existed for thousands of years. Changing it to truly give women an equal role in society is not something that can happen overnight. If you want gender equality now, it’s laughable. It will never happen when over 90% of national and business leaders are men.
But I can start by changing the mindset of women, sisters, and young girls. Don’t just read dull slogans urging women to be strong and independent; it’s hard to imagine. Read Female-dominant (FEDO) novels to see clearly what true female empowerment looks like.
I believe there will be more and more independent and strong women who prioritize their careers and personal stability over seeking a man to rely on.
In the future, there will be more successful female entrepreneurs, politicians, and thought leaders.
As for me, I will start by making this website grow stronger day by day.
I especially like the concept of “the male lead falls in love first, the female lead is the cold-hearted and rational one, and the male lead suffers because the female lead doesn’t reciprocate his feelings.”
Therefore, you’ll see that most of the novels on my website will belong to this trope. Of course, there will be exceptions.
In the future, I also plan to write my own novels following this concept, where the female lead in my stories will never be the weaker party. I hope I can do it soon.
The novels I highly recommend will be listed under the category:
There will be exceptionally brilliant stories, but there will also be mediocre ones. As the Female-dominant (FEDO) genre has fewer authors and readers, the number of high-quality novels is limited.
Therefore, I want to promote this genre to reach a wider audience, which will encourage more talented authors to choose to write in this style, leading to the birth of more outstanding Female-dominant (FEDO) novels.
The Chinese versions of the novels I use for translation are all sourced from various websites on the internet. You know, I don’t have much budget to purchase so many novels.
Therefore, if your financial situation allows, please support the authors by purchasing the original works. You can find the original works using the Chinese titles of the novels.

WARNING:
In some novels, there are certain unhealthy ideologies and illegal actions held by the main characters (for example, treating human lives as worthless, or casually deciding to kill someone, forcing others to do things they don’t want to do, arbitrarily imprisoning others, plotting to harm others, using violence to retaliate against violence,…).
This may be because the authors are still young and inexperienced, unaware that what they’re writing goes beyond moral standards and can negatively influence young readers.
It’s important that readers under 18 years old need to recognize these are illegal actions, not permitted to be carried out in real life, always keep a clear head while reading, treat these works only as entertainment, and don’t let yourself be influenced by those plot points.
