Chapter 59. Modern Extra 1 – Although this man is bold, he’s quite virtuous…
Gu Sui found Mu Jiulu at the bus stop.
It was snowing that day. He had just been promoted to a full-time position not long ago and had been working overtime late into the night drawing diagrams. Although his salary had increased, he still couldn’t bear to take a taxi home and was rushing to catch the last bus.
Mu Jiulu sat on the bench in front of the billboard, watching the occasional shadow pass by on the overly wide street ahead, her tense face filled with confusion.
She tentatively reached out a hand, catching snowflakes falling from the sky, the icy sensation spreading across her palm.
Mu Jiulu’s pupils suddenly constricted, and then she clenched her fist.
Such a realistic sensation, this was not a dream.
Sensing someone approaching, Mu Jiulu keenly looked over, her sharp gaze causing the young man to stop in his tracks.
The streetlight nearby seemed to be malfunctioning, flickering on and off. With the faint light cast by the illuminated billboard, Gu Sui clearly caught the wariness in her eyes.
As well as the overwhelming beauty emanating from her features.
Her brows were cold and stern, her crimson lips tightly pressed, the smooth line of her jaw tracing a perfect arc in the night.
She wore a scarlet narrow-sleeved round-necked robe, covered by a heavy dark blue crane-patterned cloak. Her long hair was secured at the top of her head with a single gold hairpin. At first glance, she appeared solitary and proud, noble and coldly beautiful.
As if she had stepped out of a painting.
For a moment, Gu Sui’s mind went blank, and a look of amazement flooded his peach blossom eyes.
What a beautiful elder sister!
“Who are you?”
A frosty voice like wind-chilled moonlight drifted through the snowflakes to his ears, causing Gu Sui to pull his collar tighter.
Hiss, so cold.
He took a few more steps forward, rubbing his cold hands. The hot breath from his mouth dispersed under the streetlight like leaping clouds and mist.
Gu Sui began to feel hesitant.
A stranger asking who he was at a bus stop in the middle of the night – no matter how he looked at it, it seemed odd.
Could it be another creditor who had popped up out of nowhere and found his workplace to ambush him?
“Stop right there.”
Mu Jiulu stood up, and the sudden pressure made Gu Sui’s breath catch. He raised his gaze slightly, feeling a bit flustered.
Damn, what a tall elder sister!
She must be at least 180 centimeters!
Gu Sui’s gaze moved downward, noticing the silver boots exposed beneath the hem of her clothes.
Hmm… flat-soled.
Flat-soled?!
Gu Sui became a bit confused, with a voice in his heart constantly shouting that it was impossible, there must be hidden insoles!
“This king is asking you a question.”
The aloof and vast voice froze him to the core. Gu Sui shuddered and quickly looked up into the elder sister’s eyes, responding in a somewhat flustered manner.
“Ah? Well… I’m Gu Sui. Do you… need something from me?”
Mu Jiulu rubbed her fingertips, her gaze sinking slightly.
Gu Sui.
“A member of the Gu family?”
Gu Sui was really too cold. He put his hands to his lips to warm them with his breath, pondering for a moment under her appraising gaze.
“I think you might have mistaken me for someone else. I’m probably not the Gu family member you know. I just happen to have the surname Gu.”
He had heard that communication between wealthy families was often done by clan names, this family and that family. Judging by this elder sister’s demeanor, she didn’t seem like an ordinary person, possibly a young lady from some influential family.
Although her appearance at a bus stop was a bit strange.
But what did it matter, as long as she wasn’t here to collect a debt.
“A mistake? This king seems to have seen you somewhere before.”
Gu Sui: “……”
His frozen brain finally noticed something odd. He tilted his head.
“This… king?”
Was this elder sister acting in a play?
“How dare you!”
Mu Jiulu’s eyes flashed coldly, her crimson lips uttering two deep words. Every gesture exuded the arrogance of a royal princess, causing Gu Sui to draw in a sharp breath.
But at the same time, he felt a bit of pity.
Such a pretty elder sister, why did she seem a bit… not quite right in the head?
Who was she acting with in the middle of the night?
Seeing that this man showed no sign of reverence, and considering his lone appearance at this late hour, along with the strange shadows she had seen earlier and the unusual surroundings, Mu Jiulu felt a sense of foreboding.
“Where is this?”
Gu Sui sighed, his peach blossom eyes already showing a hint of sympathy.
“It’s Gaoxin Yuan Station. Where are you heading, elder sister? It’s not safe for you to be out alone so late at night. Why don’t I escort you home?”
Gu Sui felt that, as a man, he should take responsibility. Doing a good deed every day was a way to accumulate virtue.
Hearing this, Mu Jiulu raised an eyebrow, a hint of mischief mixing with her cold beauty, along with deep gravity.
“Escort me home? Very well. 37 Chengtian Street, which direction?”
Gu Sui was dumbfounded on the spot.
“Where?”
Mu Jiulu coldly repeated herself, and Gu Sui was stunned for another three seconds. Unable to think of where this place might be, he pulled out his phone from his bag and opened Baidu Maps.
“Chengtian Street…”
Gu Sui typed with his frozen red fingertips. The pale light reflected on his face as Mu Jiulu watched with confusion and a hint of distraction.
This face of unparalleled beauty, she remembered where she had seen it before.
The only son of Gu Tingsong, Gu Sui.
“Which Chengtian Street? There’s one in G City and one in N City. Elder sister, where exactly is your home?”
Gu Sui asked in confusion. Mu Jiulu discreetly withdrew her gaze and said with pursed lips.
“The capital.”
Gu Sui: “The capital? Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”
Mu Jiulu lowered her eyes, her heart sinking. Of course, she couldn’t be mistaken.
Then it must be this world that was wrong.
This place didn’t seem to be her world.
Seeing her remain silent, Gu Sui felt a twinge of sympathy.
“Elder sister, are you unable to find your way home?”
Mu Jiulu looked up at him, her dark eyes gleaming with a cold light.
Unable to find her way home…
It seemed to be somewhat more serious than that.
Gu Sui suggested, “Should we go to the police station?”
Mu Jiulu: “What?”
“When you encounter problems, you should seek help from the police. Whether you’re lost or whatever, you can always ask the police for help. They’ll definitely be able to help you find your home.”
Mu Jiulu shook her head: “No.”
This sounded like a government place. Without any identification for this place and not understanding how their system worked, how could she dare to go there rashly?
“Why not?”
Gu Sui asked, puzzled. Wasn’t it natural to seek help from the police when in trouble? This elder sister was so strange.
Mu Jiulu remained silent for a long time, and Gu Sui began to wonder if she had some kind of difficulty.
