Chapter 74: Getting the Marriage License
The air was silent for a long while. Fan Xia could only hear the whistling wind blowing past her ears.
After a long time, she heard Rong Xiu’s cold voice trembling: “…Is what you said true?”
“Of course it’s true. You’re carrying my child, I can’t not give you a proper status,” Fan Xia said with a smile.
“…….” Rong Xiu’s breathing was heavy as if panting. Rapid thumping sounds came from the other end of the phone. The servant called out anxiously: “Young master, slow down! Be careful of your body. Don’t go down the stairs so quickly!”
“What are you doing?” Fan Xia asked.
“I’m coming to find you.” Rong Xiu’s voice was filled with uncontainable joy, as if she could feel his heart pounding.
“I’m already home.” As soon as Fan Xia got out of the car, she saw Rong Xiu hurriedly walking out wearing a large coat.
She hung up the phone and went forward to embrace Rong Xiu. The large black coat wrapped around his thin frame, still carrying the chill of the cold wind. The servant who had chased after him quietly retreated.
“Why did you come out? It’s cold outside.” Rong Xiu raised his exquisitely curved chin to look at her, the light glinting off his slender eyes beneath gold-rimmed glasses: “Aren’t we going to get the marriage license?”
Fan Xia smiled and pulled him towards the house: “It’s already 6 o’clock now, the civil affairs bureau is closed. Did you forget?”
Rong Xiu was stunned for a moment, then a flash of frustration crossed his eyes. He said in a very low voice: “I lost my head and forgot about the time.”
The fading winter light fell on the two of them. Fan Xia’s eyes held a smile: “It’s alright, we’ll go tomorrow.”
Rong Xiu’s hand curled slightly in her palm. His fair face reddened a bit: “Okay.”
After entering the house, the servant brought up freshly washed grapes: “Young master, Miss Fan, have some grapes. I washed them very clean.”
Fan Xia voiced her thanks.
The servant continued: “Young master, you should eat more grapes. I’ve heard that eating more grapes during pregnancy will make the child’s eyes big and round, black and bright like grapes when they’re born.”
The redness that had not yet faded from Rong Xiu’s face flushed up again.
Although Gu Jin Yi had always relied on Fan Xia’s financial support for his studies and knew she had bought a house in the imperial capital, he had never been there. Fan Xia didn’t let him go, and his father Li Zhou wouldn’t let him go either.
So even though the internet was in an uproar, Gu Jin Yi didn’t know where to find Fan Xia.
He returned home in a daze. When he opened the door and saw the announcement Fan Xia had posted about being unmarried, his mind became even more chaotic, and his legs went weak.
Sister Fan isn’t married? How is that possible? But the proof of being unmarried in the photo couldn’t be fake. What exactly was going on?
“Jin Yi? Why aren’t you coming in?” Li Zhou came forward and asked with concern when he saw Gu Jin Yi standing blankly at the door.
They no longer lived in that old dilapidated house. He had signed with a football team, and his monthly income was almost that of a high-level white-collar worker. The house they rented was spacious and bright in the city center, with nice decor inside. Although the house wasn’t bought, their life was no longer as tight as before.
“Dad-” Gu Jin Yi put down his phone dejectedly and asked: “Did you know that Sister Fan didn’t marry Wen Lan Sheng?”
Li Zhou’s hand paused as he was helping him take off his shoes, then made a sound of affirmation.
“You knew?” Gu Jin Yi asked in surprise: “How did you know?”
Suddenly, Gu Jin Yi’s expression changed as he remembered the mysterious words Li Zhou had told him long ago: ‘They will never be together’.
“Dad, you know the inside story, don’t you? Tell me? Why did Sister Fan have an affair? She had been with Wen Lan Sheng for so many years, why didn’t she marry him? Dad, I beg you, please tell me.” Gu Jin Yi pleaded.
Li Zhou sighed: “Actually, you shouldn’t know about this. But since Fan Xia has already dealt with the Wen family, there’s no harm in telling you.”
“The person who killed Fan Xia’s mother in that car accident was Wen Ming Yue, but she fled the scene. The whole Wen family helped her cover it up, indirectly causing Fan Xia’s father to commit suicide. I was the only witness to that accident back then. I told Fan Xia about this, so the reason she’s been dating Wen Lan Sheng all these years was to take revenge on the Wen family. Now Wen Ming Yue has been sent to prison by her.”
After hearing this, Gu Jin Yi’s eyes widened in shock. He cried out in disbelief: “Sister Fan has been living under the same roof with her enemies’ family all these years?!”
“Yes, she’s had a very hard time these years,” Li Zhou sighed. “It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you, but Fan Xia asked me back then not to let a third person know. The fewer people who knew the secret, the higher the chance of Fan Xia’s revenge succeeding.”
“You were too young at that time. I was afraid you might accidentally let something slip. Fan Xia had suffered too much. I didn’t want the information to leak and ruin everything for her,” Li Zhou said earnestly.
Gu Jin Yi sat numbly on the sofa.
Li Zhou sat beside him and continued: “But now Fan Xia has succeeded in her revenge. She’s cut ties with Wen Lan Sheng completely. Fan Xia is a good woman, not like your mother. If you’re looking for a wife-master, you should find someone like her. I know you like her. Now that Fan Xia doesn’t have a man by her side, you should make your move quickly, grab hold of her tightly.”
Gu Jin Yi lowered his head dejectedly and mumbled: “Dad, it’s too late. She already has a man by her side, and that man seems to be carrying her child.”
“What?” Li Zhou was shocked.
“I heard it when I was on the phone with Sister Fan,” Gu Jin Yi said hoarsely.
If only he had known earlier.
“She already has a man carrying her child?” Li Zhou couldn’t believe it.
Although Li Zhou’s mental state had improved a lot over the years, it was still difficult for him to integrate into modern internet society. He only watched TV dramas and listened to the news every day. The affair that was causing an uproar online wouldn’t be broadcast on TV, so he had no idea about it.
Originally, Li Zhou had thought that after Fan Xia succeeded, he could bring the two children together to live a fulfilling life, and he would be content. But he never imagined that another man would suddenly appear halfway, and even be carrying Fan Xia’s child.
For a moment, he was even more shocked than Gu Jin Yi, as if seeing the third party who had stolen his wife-master back then, coming to their door with a big belly.
If they didn’t fight for her, it would be hard for his Jin Yi to find another woman like Fan Xia. Even though Li Zhou hated women, he didn’t want his child to be lonely and helpless for life.
But if they fought for her, how would they be any different from that third party with the big belly back then?
Li Zhou slumped onto the sofa.

If you’re like me…
Too tired of reading stories where the female lead is often foolish, weak, feeble both physically and mentally, usually in a subservient and oppressed role in society such as a maid, secretary, concubine… or to put it bluntly, typically the one who has to serve and please the male lead, always needing protection and rescue from male leads, while the male lead is often described as talented, strikingly handsome, powerful,…
Then please continue reading.
Hi there, girls!
I’m Yuushi L.
Every day, movies and comics continuously reinforce the notion that women are weak, that they can only handle trivial matters in the background, that women are petty-minded and constantly jealous, mocking, and laughing at other women, while men are strong, wealthy, and solely focused on conquering the world, with countless mindless women ready to fall into their arms.
Believe me, once you read Female-dominant (FEDO) novels, your mindset will change significantly.
I am deeply inspired by strong, independent, and rational women who have the power to take control of their lives, and I am fascinated by the way society’s gender roles are reversed in this genre compared to real life.
So I have created this web with the noble purpose of promoting the “Female-dominant (FEDO)” genre of novels.
In my country, there was a rare renowned female poet in ancient times who wrote the following about the fate of women in that era:
“Damn this life of sharing a husband,
One wrapped in warmth, the other left cold.
I’d rather have stayed single from the start,
Than to endure a life so torn apart.”
Perhaps my penchant for reading female-dominant stories is partly a way of rebelling against the realities of life.
On my site, there will be stories that are not only female-dominant novels, as long as they align with my taste, featuring strong female protagonists and fresh, captivating storylines. Usually, they will be modern or fantasy novels.
I rarely read ancient novels that aren’t female-dominant because they often contain details that easily trigger me. These include the portrayal of men having multiple wives and concubines, which was considered utterly normal in ancient society, and the frequent disdain towards women.
I cannot change the world, as the societal structure that discriminates against women and elevates men has existed for thousands of years. Changing it to truly give women an equal role in society is not something that can happen overnight. If you want gender equality now, it’s laughable. It will never happen when over 90% of national and business leaders are men.
But I can start by changing the mindset of women, sisters, and young girls. Don’t just read dull slogans urging women to be strong and independent; it’s hard to imagine. Read Female-dominant (FEDO) novels to see clearly what true female empowerment looks like.
I believe there will be more and more independent and strong women who prioritize their careers and personal stability over seeking a man to rely on.
In the future, there will be more successful female entrepreneurs, politicians, and thought leaders.
As for me, I will start by making this website grow stronger day by day.
I especially like the concept of “the male lead falls in love first, the female lead is the cold-hearted and rational one, and the male lead suffers because the female lead doesn’t reciprocate his feelings.”
Therefore, you’ll see that most of the novels on my website will belong to this trope. Of course, there will be exceptions.
In the future, I also plan to write my own novels following this concept, where the female lead in my stories will never be the weaker party. I hope I can do it soon.
The novels I highly recommend will be listed under the category:
There will be exceptionally brilliant stories, but there will also be mediocre ones. As the Female-dominant (FEDO) genre has fewer authors and readers, the number of high-quality novels is limited.
Therefore, I want to promote this genre to reach a wider audience, which will encourage more talented authors to choose to write in this style, leading to the birth of more outstanding Female-dominant (FEDO) novels.
The Chinese versions of the novels I use for translation are all sourced from various websites on the internet. You know, I don’t have much budget to purchase so many novels.
Therefore, if your financial situation allows, please support the authors by purchasing the original works. You can find the original works using the Chinese titles of the novels.

WARNING:
In some novels, there are certain unhealthy ideologies and illegal actions held by the main characters (for example, treating human lives as worthless, or casually deciding to kill someone, forcing others to do things they don’t want to do, arbitrarily imprisoning others, plotting to harm others, using violence to retaliate against violence,…).
This may be because the authors are still young and inexperienced, unaware that what they’re writing goes beyond moral standards and can negatively influence young readers.
It’s important that readers under 18 years old need to recognize these are illegal actions, not permitted to be carried out in real life, always keep a clear head while reading, treat these works only as entertainment, and don’t let yourself be influenced by those plot points.
