Taoist Master Zhou gave an “oh”, “Then you admire my talent, that’s why you specially came to befriend me?”
Yan Jin started to feel her choice of person wasn’t particularly good. Just as she was about to make up some words to turn and leave, she heard Yu Shu’s exclamation behind her, “Yan Jin, you can actually make friends with a Taoist Master, so impressive.”
Yan Jin: “…”
“I do indeed admire Taoist Master’s talent.” Yan Jin was stuck and could only bite the bullet and bluff, “I’m quite interested in metaphysics but could never get started. Today it’s a rare chance to meet a Taoist Master of true talent like you, so I wanted to make friends.”
After saying that, Yan Jin felt according to novel conventions, Taoist Master Zhou would definitely say “We who have left the secular world should not have too many entanglements with those in the mundane world”. Then she could say as a matter of course “Sorry to disturb Taoist Master” and leave with the matter concluded.
Who knew, Taoist Master Zhou actually didn’t decline. Instead, she nodded with great interest, “Great, great, then just call me Xiao Wu.”
Finally, Yan Jin even heard her mumbling to herself, “I knew with my talent, there would definitely be someone with a discerning eye.”
Yan Jin always felt she had encountered a fake Taoist priest.
But Yan Jin also didn’t care. After all, she just didn’t want to lose face in front of Yu Shu.
Yan Jin still wanted to say a few random things to end this conversation. Who knew Taoist Master Zhou Xiao Wu, who was originally talking to her all smiles, suddenly changed expression. Covering her face with her sleeve, she dropped a “I suddenly have something to do, let’s make an appointment another day” and hurriedly ran off.
“Why did she suddenly leave?” Taoist Master Zhou Xiao Wu ran off too suddenly. Yu Shu didn’t even have time to stop her. He turned back and said to Yan Jin very dejectedly, “I haven’t even given her the remuneration yet.”
“Maybe she encountered an urgent matter.” Yan Jin said unconcernedly, “When we run into her again, we can make up the money then. You must be hungry after being busy for so long. I called for some food to be delivered outside. Let’s eat first.”
Yu Shu looked at the few helpers behind Yan Jin who were smilingly carrying food boxes and asked, “…How many dishes did you order?”
Actually, Yu Shu had seen these few helpers long ago, but he had been thinking they were takeout called by neighbors in Anping Lane and didn’t connect them with Yan Jin.
“Not much.” Yan Jin waved her hand, “I was afraid we wouldn’t eat our fill, so I called for our lunch and dinner together.”
“Then the two of us should be able to fill our stomachs.” Yu Shu chose his words, “It’s just, the lunch dishes reheated for dinner might not taste as good as they do now.”
“My living habits are a bit different from yours.” Yan Jin said very frankly, “For me, as long as it’s not overnight food, it’s all edible.”
Yu Shu seized the key point, “You don’t reheat dishes?”
“I don’t have that habit.” Yan Jin: “I’m afraid of scalding, so I don’t like overly hot food. It’s actually easier to eat when it’s a bit cooler.”
Yu Shu facepalmed and let out a long sigh, “I’ve already learned how to use the stove here. When reheating dishes at night, I’ll try to heat them until they’re not scalding.”
“Won’t reheat dishes at night.” Yan Jin glanced at Xu Junde and the others not far away who kept looking in their direction. A thought flashed and she shook her head, “We’ll eat out at night.”
Yu Shu: “…There’s only two of us, we can’t possibly finish so much food at noon.”
“If it was just me alone, I’d make do casually. But now that I’m living with you, I have to consider your feelings a bit.” The corners of Yan Jin’s lips curved up slightly, “Since you said reheated food doesn’t taste good, and we’re not short on money, let’s not make things hard on ourselves.”
For some reason, Yu Shu’s heart softened, like it had been lightly scratched by a kitten’s paw. The feeling was indescribable.
“I read in a book before that after new neighbors move in, you should give the neighbors some snacks and desserts to improve neighborly relations.” Yan Jin was afraid of exposing her shortcoming of being bad at socializing, so she specially went to Yu Shu’s side and asked him in a low voice, “Didn’t you make new friends? There’s no other food at home to give people, and I didn’t buy any pastries. Can we share the dishes with them?”
Yu Shu was a bit surprised and widened his eyes slightly, “But the takeout was paid for with your money, you want me to take your credit?”
“They all saw me coming back with the delivery men behind.” Yan Jin said, “They should know it was paid for by me. After all, ever since the two of us started talking, they’ve glanced at us quite a few times.”
Yu Shu wasn’t the type to be coy. He immediately said, “Then I’ll make it up to you next time.”
“No need for next time.” Yan Jin also didn’t stand on ceremony, “Just help me with something tonight.”
[Tsk, what kind of help does she want Yu Shu for so late at night?] [Old pervert in front, please stop the yellow waste in your head (no lewd thoughts allowed.jpg)] [Don’t assume two people of the opposite sex must have something going on just because they’re together, OK?]Even if Yan Jin hadn’t let him take her credit, if Yan Jin asked him for help, Yu Shu would be very happy to help. Not to mention now Yan Jin specially let him share the delicacies with his new friends.
When Taoist Master Zhou Xiao Wu ran off in a flash just now, quite a few of the spectating neighbors also dispersed, only Xu Junde and a few men were left whispering.
When Yu Shu distributed the takeout Yan Jin ordered to his new friends, they even teased Yu Shu, “Really not your lover sister?”
“Really not.” Yu Shu was almost numb from the teasing, “Brothers, my relationship with Yan Jin is as pure as a blank sheet of paper.”
“You two were talking so close and you still say your relationship is pure.” A round-faced youth interrupted Yu Shu who wanted to refute, “I get it, I get it, this is your way of flirting. We won’t say anything, don’t worry.”
[Actually, I’ve always been puzzled, why do Xu Junde and the others think Yu Shu and Yan Jin are a couple? They don’t seem to have much CP vibe.] [If you look at it from a male strong female weak CP perspective, they indeed don’t have much CP vibe. But if you reverse it and look from a female strong male weak or fourth love perspective, mm-mm.] [To be honest, I feel their faces and auras can perfectly fit into all the GB novels I’ve read, hiss ha hiss ha.]When I was writing the first three chapters of this book, I was troubled that Yu Shu wasn’t handsome enough. I asked my bestie to check if there was a problem.
Bestie: Yu Shu has nothing to do with being a male god. He’s just the cute type, not the handsome type.
Now the more I write, the more I feel my bestie’s initial assessment was too accurate.
Because when I wrote up to the latest draft chapters, I slapped my thighs red. Yu Shu is too cute!
The interactions with Yan Jin, that chemistry, I’d be amused when I was proofreading. It’s like they’re not characters under my pen, but a couple living in another parallel world who sent me a dream to write their story.
Writing this couple is a completely different writing experience than before. I got sweetened myself writing their ambiguous period interactions. This is only the ambiguous period, if it was the passionate love period, kisses in the morning, noon and night, kissing non-stop, then a fade to black, mm-mm, the sweetness would kill me.
Their personalities are completely opposite, but the sparks from the collision are really so interesting. I’m super happy writing it, wishing I could write even more sugar hahaha.
I hope there will be more Jinshu CP fans later. Let’s all nibble on sugar in the comments section and pray to get rich and dream of beauties. I’ll work hard to deliver sugar, hehe.
The draft is at 73,000 words, hehe. *Clasps hands.jpg*
