Chapter 88 Extra 2
“Have you packed everything? The car is already waiting outside.”
Mother Jiang reminded her son who was still sitting in his room in a daze. Jiang Luoyu looked rather gloomy as he raised his head to look at his mother, “Do we really have to move? I can stay in the dormitory.”
Mother Jiang was displeased: “Do you want to stay alone in this city?”
Jiang Luoyu pursed his lips and lowered his head without speaking.
Their family had reached the peak of an ordinary life – Mother Jiang had miraculously won a cash prize of 200 million from a lottery ticket. For an average family, 200 million was an amount they couldn’t earn in ten lifetimes, enough to change the trajectory of their lives.
As a result, Mother Jiang no longer planned to continue developing in this small city. The whole family was preparing to move to Z City, a place densely populated with rich people and one of the most developed cities in the world. Even though this money would only be enough to open a small company in Z City, it was better than developing in this small place.
Jiang Luoyu didn’t have her kind of ambition. He couldn’t let go of his friends at school and didn’t think there was anything good about going to such a place.
But his thoughts couldn’t change anything. In the end, he still followed his parents to move to Z City, and they even arranged for him to attend the best school in Z City.
On the day of enrollment, Jiang Luoyu followed the teacher to his assigned class with a nervous heart.
Below the podium, the bright and youthful boys and girls kept casting appraising glances at him. He squeezed his sweaty palms, pretending to be calm as he finished his self-introduction.
The classroom was silent for a few seconds, then a girl let out a disappointed voice: “What? You made me anticipate so much, but he looks just average.”
Jiang Luoyu had been considered a school heartthrob in his previous school. Although his features weren’t very delicate, the grace and brightness between his brows made people feel comfortable, belonging to the type that was very pleasing to look at.
However, such looks appeared very ordinary in Xinxing, a place where everyone’s appearance was a level higher.
As soon as the girl finished speaking, others started laughing too. The boys all looked at him contemptuously, as if they could see through his school uniform to the rusticity underneath.
The laughter and those gazes stabbed at him like knives. Jiang Luoyu’s face turned pale, and he stood helplessly on the podium.
The teacher slapped the desk forcefully, “Quiet, quiet!” Unfortunately, it couldn’t intimidate everyone, and some people were still giggling. She ignored it as usual and arranged a seat for the new student, “There’s an empty seat over there, you can sit there.”
Next to that empty seat sat a boy who was admiring himself in a small mirror. Hearing the teacher’s words, he rolled his eyes and said lazily, “Teacher, I don’t like sitting with others.”
The teacher was a bit troubled and changed to another seat, but it was still rejected.
Just as Jiang Luoyu’s eyes were turning red, a clear and bright female voice suddenly came from the doorway: “Teacher, I just went to get the class materials and came back late.”
Everyone’s attention immediately shifted. Those who were looking in mirrors, listening to music, or talking quietly put away their little actions. Jiang Luoyu blinked his slightly sore eyes and curiously turned his head to look.
The girl stood backlit, and although her face couldn’t be seen clearly, her graceful and straight figure easily gained the favor of the boys. They stared at her without blinking, all glued to her.
The teacher said, “I see. Go back to your seat.”
Fang Chuning walked into the classroom and sat back in her seat, her gaze falling on the podium. She had noticed the boy since entering the door, knowing he was the new transfer student.
Jiang Luoyu’s gaze was also on her. He didn’t want to be like this, but his eyes simply couldn’t move away. It was as if a deer was running wild in his left chest, his mind blank, only knowing to stare straight at the girl.
The teacher was still thinking about where to arrange his seat when Fang Chuning spoke first: “Haven’t you arranged a seat yet? He can sit behind me.”
No one dared to object when the girl spoke. Her words were far more effective than the teacher’s.
Jiang Luoyu couldn’t describe how he felt at this moment. He only knew that his entire spirit was involuntarily drawn to the girl. This feeling was very unfamiliar, and he wasn’t even sure if it was because she had helped him out of his predicament that he felt grateful to her?
After class, he wanted to express his gratitude to the girl. He walked to her seat, his fingers nervously intertwined, “Th-thank you.”
Not having seen him being troubled earlier, Fang Chuning was confused by his thanks: “What are you thanking me for?”
Jiang Luoyu didn’t know how to explain. Seeing her looking at him, his cheeks unconsciously turned red. He suddenly lowered his head, stammering for a long time without explaining clearly.
Suddenly, a figure appeared beside him. Jiang Luoyu looked up and met the boy’s fierce and resentful eyes. His heart tightened slightly, and he instinctively stepped back.
He remembered him, it was the boy who said he wasn’t used to sitting with others. With delicate and pretty features, he came over and stood in front of him, blocking them off. He said to the girl in an almost coquettish tone: “Fang classmate, I don’t understand this question, can you teach me?”
The girl didn’t refuse. The boy took the opportunity to sit in the empty seat next to her, leaning close to listen to her explain the question.
Jiang Luoyu bit his lower lip lightly, feeling extremely disappointed.
In the days that followed, he witnessed the extent of the girl’s popularity. Not just boys, even girls would treat her as the center point. Wherever she went, she was surrounded by people like stars around the moon. He simply had no chance to get close.
Jiang Luoyu stared blankly at the girl’s back, his hand holding the pen tightening slightly. His eyes moved slightly, and he quietly reached out his finger, lightly touching her back, then quickly withdrew as if he had been scalded.
But Fang Chuning still felt it and turned her head to give him a puzzled look.
Jiang Luoyu instantly turned as red as a shrimp thrown into boiling water, his eyes flickering as he made up an excuse in a small voice: “I-I forgot to bring my eraser, can I borrow yours?”
Fang Chuning didn’t suspect anything and generously lent him her eraser.
After a while, she felt her back being touched again. She glanced at the teacher lecturing on the podium, then turned back again. The boy’s face was as red as a tomato, his gaze intense, “I forgot to bring my review book, can I borrow yours to look at?”
Fang Chuning: “…” You forgot to bring everything, what did you come to school for?
