Chapter 67: Obsession
Luo Shaoxuan sat up from the bed clutching his chest with a frown, his brows knitted in confusion as he looked around. His chest felt as if it had been fiercely twisted together, painfully tight.
Scanning the bedroom and seeing no sign of the one he longed for, he wrinkled his delicate brows in aggrieved manner and called out coquettishly towards the door: “Ziliang~” But after staring at the doorway for a long time, still no one entered. He couldn’t help but pout and mutter: “Must have gone to the medical hall again.” Heedlessly wiping away the blood oozing from the corner of his mouth, he flipped off the silk covers and walked barefoot to the edge of the door, pushing it open and sweeping his beautiful eyes across the courtyard.
She was nowhere to be seen.
Unrelentingly, he walked with pitter-pattering bare feet to the kitchen and pushed open the door: “Ziliang?” Still no sign of her inside.
He searched every corner of the bath chamber, even the thatched hut and outhouse, yet her figure was nowhere to be found.
Luo Shaoxuan sat dejectedly on the soft couch in the bedroom, head hung low as his fingers fretfully plucked at the silk cushion.
She must have risen early while he slept late, not wishing to disturb him before heading to the medical hall first.
She would return in a bit.
Another painful wrench seized his heart. The man frowned, clutching his chest as a mouthful of thick bloody qi spewed from his throat, spraying directly onto the rug beneath the couch.
Luo Shaoxuan’s face blanched. His tall form hurriedly stood from the couch and knelt on the rug, frantically wiping at the blood stain with his sleeve.
If she saw this, she would surely worry.
But…
His wiping motions paused.
Thinking of how she would look at him with such urgent concern, her heart and eyes filled only with him, the corners of Luo Shaoxuan’s mouth, tainted with red threads, instantly curved up in a saccharine smile.
However, that sweet sentiment was shattered the next moment by the black-clad figure that appeared in the room. Luo Shaoxuan glanced coldly at the woman: “Who allowed you to enter?” “Get out!”
Qingpo half-knelt on the ground, head lowered as she spoke hoarsely: “Master, you are currently injured internally. Please allow this subordinate to treat your wounds.” But the man acted as if he hadn’t heard her words at all, his eyes gradually filling with a thread of scarlet, gaze growing increasingly malevolent as he looked at the woman, red lips smeared with blood gently curling: “I told you to get out.” Qingpo’s body trembled. She could sense the man’s intense killing intent. Not daring to say more, she flashed away and retreated with a slight movement.
“Tsk,” Luo Shaoxuan curled his lip in annoyance, glancing at his sleeve with some disgust. He rose and went behind the screen to remove his soiled clothing.
From the corner of his eye, he noticed the white inner garment on the screen. Lifting his gaze to stare fixedly at it, eyes glimmering, he glanced around furtively before quickly reaching out to take it down.
Impatiently burying his face deep into the inner garment, he inhaled her fragrance permeating the fabric.
The man let out a contented moan, nuzzling the garment obsessively as he lay back on the bed, tightly embracing the item of clothing as he drifted off into deep slumber.
The light from the window shone on the man’s exquisite, enchanting features, his brow slightly furrowed with a tinge of grief. He seemed quite unsettled in his sleep, brows locked tightly as he curled up anxiously, inner garment clutched to his chest.
The light shining on his body from the window gradually shifted to the desk as day faded into dusk.
Finally, Luo Shaoxuan on the bed awoke. Out of habit, he nuzzled the inner garment, childishly rubbing his eyes with a jade-like hand, voice slightly hoarse but carrying a tone of coquettishness reserved only for her: “Ziliang~ Are you back?” “……”
Silence greeted him in response.
Luo Shaoxuan’s brows furrowed deeply. The last traces of sleepiness vanished from his eyes. Carefully placing the inner garment on the bed, he walked barefoot to open the door, only to see the courtyard still devoid of her figure.
The sun was nearly setting.
The man’s expression instantly turned gloomy. His fingers gripped the doorframe tightly, knuckles turning white as he squeezed, directly causing the frame to cave in where he held it.
Some shameless hussy must have seduced her away again.
Damn it!
Truly damn it!
The man’s face twisted hideously, eyes brimming with bloodthirsty, nefarious intent that seemed on the verge of erupting forth. Not bothering that his feet were unshod, he slammed the door, about to go out and search for her.
But again, some thing with a death wish blocked his path. Luo Shaoxuan viciously kicked the black-clad woman in the abdomen.
Qingpo was sent flying back several paces by the kick, coughing up a mouthful of black blood. She once more obstructed his way: “Master, there are internal injuries in your body. If not treated soon, they will backlash.” Luo Shaoxuan clenched his fists, coldly looking down on the woman: “You’re seeking death.” Seeing that he really intended to kill her, Qingpo gritted her teeth and lowered her head: “Physician Si has long since left to return to her village.” Ever since Luo Shaoxuan awoke, she felt his behavior was odd, likely due to the internal injuries addling his mind somewhat. Knowing he wished to go find that woman, but that woman wasn’t even in town – why waste energy this way?
Luo Shaoxuan narrowed his beautiful eyes, staring at her like a venomous serpent: “What did you say?” “Master…” Qingpo was about to repeat herself when the man viciously grabbed her by the throat, directly lifting her up.
“Shut up!” Luo Shaoxuan snarled, eyes completely red, like a caged beast making its final struggle.
Qingpo didn’t resist, only felt the hand around her neck progressively tighten its grip, seeming about to directly snap her neck.
At the last second, Luo Shaoxuan flung her aside.
Luo Shaoxuan clutched his head, staggering back a few steps as a cold, ruthless voice continuously surged into his mind.
If you recklessly kill the innocent again, then never expect to see me anymore.
Right, right, she told him not to kill. Luo Shaoxuan paid the figure on the ground no more heed, unsteadily running out of the courtyard.
He had to go find her.
How could she bear to abandon him?
She must be upset with him.
Ignoring the sharp pebbles piercing his jade feet and the tree branches scratching his cheeks until they bled, his mind focused only on finding her quickly.
Luo Shaoxuan stood outside the tightly shut doors of the medical hall, panting lightly, strands of black hair slightly disheveled with a few plastered to his lips, his pair of jade feet covered in wounds. His lost eyes stared at the medical hall without focus, all traces of his usual noble rationality gone.
She… she really didn’t want him anymore?
